Is it bad to compliment your boyfriend often? Photo source |
You know; there are plenty of girls out there
who absolutely thrive on compliments. The second they receive one they
absolutely love it. I am one of those girls. I
don’t necessarily go fishing for compliments, but I love them regardless. On
the other end of the spectrum, there are guys out there who do not like
compliments quite so much. Well; they don’t show that they want the compliments
at least. That does not mean you shouldn’t compliment though.
I once had a boyfriend who had a smile light up
on his face whenever I dished out a compliment. I didn’t do it too often, but I
gave them out once in a while. This could be a compliment as simple as ‘you
look great today’ or ‘thanks for doing that for me. You did a fantastic job’.
It shows people that they are appreciated. This is what people want. They want
to feel like they are appreciated. If your guy is dressing up and looking good
then it is likely they have done it for you. The least you can do is show that
you actually appreciate them doing this. They are going to absolutely love it.
If you stop complimenting them then it is likely that they are going to stop
doing the things in life that you appreciate. This is the last thing you want.
Of course; it is bad to compliment anybody, not
just guys, far too often. You see; a compliment should be a special occasion.
It is meant to make people smile or to just generally feel good about
themselves. If you are just throwing out random compliments from time to time
then it is unlikely that the person is going to appreciate them too much. In
fact; let’s assume that you are a beautiful girl (I assume you are, or at least
a stunningly attractive guy). Wouldn’t it get boring being told how great you
look all of the time?
Most celebrities hate compliments on a regular
basis and try to tune them out. In short; if you compliment somebody too much then
it stops feeling fantastic. It starts to feel irritating. I once had a guy who
I loved from the bottom of my heart, we are no longer together, but he just
couldn’t stop the compliments. To me it came across as a bit fake. Now; that is
not the reason I broke up with him at all. You can bet your bottom dollar that
it was one of the things that I do not miss in the slightest though.
In short; you should not compliment your boyfriend too
often. Just throw up a couple of compliments here and there on those extra-special
occasions. You want to make them feel wanted and cared for. Do not eliminate
those compliments completely. That is never good. Just try to bring them down
to the point where the person will feel good most of the time.
